The Christmas Sweater

Glenn Beck (with help from some fabulous co-authors) shares a wonderful story for the Holidays in his new book The Christmas Sweater. It is the type of book that you want to share with family and friends. It is one that I want to share with my own children to help remind them about the importance of receiving gifts from the heart with gratitude towards the giver. It is not only important to be a giver, but we also need to learn how to be a receiver. I related so well to the main character, because I remember as a young child not being grateful for many gifts that were given to me. I remember feeling that I deserved something more than what I was given. Looking back I now realize that the greatest gift that I had was my family being together during the Holidays. The traditions that we shared, the music that filled our home, the festive smells coming from the kitchen, and the love that surrounded me. I am thankful for second chances, hopefully I can teach my own children to be more grateful than I was as a child. I must say I loved how the book ended. I felt like it was a gift to me as a reader and I am grateful. I know the storm that the main character had to go through to get to the end. I've experienced my own personal storms and know that the sun is always waiting on the other side!

That was a really nice review of what sounds like a great holiday book. Thanks for your recommendation. I may have to pick this one up!

A blog devoted to books--what a great idea! I loooove that Louisa May Alcott quote. This book sounds intriguing. I don't always agree with Glenn Beck, but the ideas presented in this book seem pretty universal. I'll check it out.

I'm looking forward to what you have to say about "Austenland"...I read it about a year ago.
